A durable wooden plyo box with 3 heights — read the review here.
Constructing The Plyo Box
Like most plyo boxes, the Bodymax Plyo Powerbox was shipped flat-packed.
It has three different heights, so it’s best to lay it out the pieces to identify the three heights before you start. Then construct the outsides of the box, before inserting an x-shaped support inside, and finally the top of the box.
The panels are pre-drilled and screws were provided—the one page of instructions recommended not to glue the box together.
I’d charged up an electric screwdriver before getting started, and estimated it would only take me half an hour…unfortunately the electric screwdriver looked charged, but was broken. So it took me an hour to put it together using a manual screwdriver. The sides of the box are smooth and it fit together nicely.
It’s quite a large box, measuring 76.2cm / 30 inches at the longest end.
Once it was built my kids were very excited and wanted to climb all over it—what kid doesn’t like a box to play with. 🙂
This plyo box has three heights: 20, 24 and 30 inches—that’s really useful to expand the number of exercises you can do with it, and also to adjust to the height and capabilities of the person training on it.
This week I’ve used it with some of my training clients for box jumps, high step ups, elevated glute bridges, and to raise the feet when doing some inverted rowing exercises on the rings. There are of course many, many exercises you can do with a plyo box for strength and cardio.

Durability and Stability
I did some burpee box jumps and it felt very stable. It has a maximum person weight of 136 kg / 299 lbs. My feet gripped well to the surface of the box.
It has two cut outs for handles on the side of the box, so that you can move it around. It is very heavy, weighing in at 24 kg / 53 lbs, but that makes it less likely to accidentally move whilst using it.
It also comes with a one year warranty when purchased from Powerhouse Fitness.
